For this painting I specifically chose a blackground as moods can change from sadness to joy. Using the dark background I was able to allow the colours to slowly emerge from the sides and "burst" into a wonderful feeling of joy!
There was no way that I could paint this painting unless I was feeling in a happy mood. Saying that, I paint sometimes to change my mood from sad to happy. Generally though, I prefer to recreate the emotion I am feeling at the time of painting so that I can feel true to myself.
Using mixed media I was able to use different paints and create that emotion.
