UK Artist
Sonia Bublaitis a budding International Artist was born in Stratford Upon Avon, UK and studied towards her Fine Art Degree at Warwickshire College. Her abstract art has a contemplative quality. She creates garden paintings on wood, slate and perspex.
As Artist in Residence at a local primary school she took on the role of Project Manager and helped provide artwork for a new prayer garden. It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful project. We transformed an overgrown garden into a haven for the children to sit and reflect in. It was an experience I will never forget! Her work can regularly be found on display at many exhibitions and shows around the UK.
She works on a variety of materials though perspex is her favourite as she is mindful of light and colour dancing through. Her artwork is sometimes a response to music she loves or has composed herself. She was chosen as one out of 21 artists to look out for in 2012. See write up at skinnyartist.com.
Through the interplay of different media i.e. Photography, her aim is to express the spirituality of the world around her and to challenge the observer with each piece using somewhat unorthodox techniques. She has been greatly influenced by the works of Jackson Pollock and Wassily Kandinsky to name just a couple of artists. Kandinsky quote: Colour hides a power still unknown but real, which acts on every part of the human body” Sonia is enjoying commissions and sales overseas.
